About FUEL WOMEN’S FITNESS BUSINESS SUMMIT 2019
The inaugural FUEL Women’s Fitness Business Summit event was an incredible 2 days of sharing, learning, networking and setting plans in place to create action in both our personal and professional lives.
We were blown away by the presenters across both days, with topics spanning public relations, social media, presentation skills, leadership, productivity, lessons from the trenches, and strategies for ‘having it all’.
With delegates joining us from all over Australia and New Zealand, we were surrounded by inspiring women (and a handful of brave and progressive men!) from some of the biggest and best brands in fitness.
At FUEL 2020, we’ll be covering everything you need to set your
personal and professional life on fire.

FIRESTARTER DAY 1
Thursday July 23 2020
The word ‘leader’ is no longer synonymous with ‘boss’. Though undeniably critical to bottom line success, strategy, policy and tactics alone are inadequate magnets for the best talent. Modern day leadership requires the ability to tap into both heart and head in order to create environments where high performers choose to spend their working hours.
And while it’s no surprise to find leaders heading up companies, leadership can occur at every rank and level of responsibility as a result of the influence, inspiration and ingenuity they enact in all areas of everyday life. From the bedroom to the boardroom and everywhere in between, we’re provided with a multitude of daily opportunities to exercise and model authentic leadership.
At FIRESTARTER we’ll dive into the divisions of leadership and what it takes to expand your impact in all three:
- The inner leader: leading yourself
- Intimate leadership: leading in your personal life
- Beyond leadership: leading your team

Director Xtend Barre
Liz’s passion for entrepreneurship and business happened completely by accident. Her dream had always been to be an investigative journalist and news reader and she spent years working around the globe as a television news producer, writer and reporter, including 6 years in the news capital of the world, New York City.
It was while living in New York, just after the birth of her first child, Ruby, that Liz discovered the barre workout in 2009. ‘I took two to three classes a week and had never been fitter or stronger. I looked around that room in my first class and thought, this could be huge in Australia’.
After returning to Sydney with her husband and young family in 2011, they found themselves caught in the middle of the GFC downturn and spent the next year doing long hours at a 24 hour news desk and rethinking what the future looked like.
And so Liz returned to that small seed of a business idea, bringing the barre workout to Australia and within 6 months had opened her first Xtend Barre Studio in Mosman.
Fast forward 7 years and Liz now owns 4 Xtend Barre Studios on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, sits on a National Franchise Advisory Board, and works as a consultant helping other small business owners navigate the media and use PR opportunities to grow their business.
She is also a regular contributor to various health + wellness, business and media organisations and publications.
She was recently awarded Xtend Barre Franchisee of the Year 2018, North Shore Fitness Service of the Year 2018 & North Shore Business Person of the Year 2018.
